Cross-promotion across the network began with a simple banner exchange. We asked various local publishers to send us promotional artwork to display on our member websites, and in return, they agreed to display our members’ artwork on their sites.
Before long, a handful of publishers jumped on board, and we needed a way to accommodate them all without causing undue design work. We settled on a specific size banner (125×125), and found an easy way to implement, distribute, and monitor the exchanged banners.
Now, each member website of the Florida Media Co-op agrees to donate a specific amount of space for marketing other websites within the Co-op. Four spots (each 125×125) are used for these cross-promotions, and other members’ ads are rotated evenly within the network.
